The debut album “From the Ashes” by the technical death metal outfit Messiah Nöstrum from Spain, based in Alicante.
Progressive and highly technical death metal, with influences from bands such as Revocation, Decapitated, Pestilence’s "Spheres“ and what came after, the later albums by Death, and even a touch of Gojira. That is Messiah Nöstrum. The guitars really set the album apart from others, as they display a very wide range of compositional variety.
The vocals have a good, throaty quality with a varied range, and the only aspect of this variety I could do without are the growls, which lean more towards deathcore or metalcore and blend with a rougher, screeching style.
It is a remarkable work of progressive and technical death metal. If you’re fans of this style, you’re in for a treat, as you’ll undoubtedly enjoy Messiah Nostrum. It’s an album that deserves more attention and respect due to its excellent display of technical mastery.
