Ahnenkult was founded in 2010 in Freiburg (Baden Württemberg). The demo tape `Kult` was released in the same year. In 2014 and 2015, two more EPs `Allmacht` and `Götterkult` followed. Work on the upcoming album `Als das Licht verging` began in 2012 and was completed in mid-2017. The songs were recorded, mixed and mastered in the `Nahetal Klangschmiede` studio. On 'Als das Licht verging', Ahnenkult deal with the astrological side of Nordic-Germanic mythology. The new album presents the etymological connections between the universe and its interpretation through mythology as well as their own personal interpretations. Many well-known interpretations are reinterpreted. In this cosmic structure, the sun, and thus the god Baldur, is seen as the center of the great whole, the origin of all being. Ancestor worship thus presents Nordic mythology in a new guise.
